Occupant Safety and Child Restraint ProgramPolice Checking Car Seat

The North Kingstown Police Department, along with the State of Rhode Island, Department on Highway Safety, inform and assist the public with motor vehicle occupant safety. It is the law that you, your child, and your passengers all have to buckle up. You cannot text and drive. You cannot drink and drive. If not for your own safety, than do it for others.

During safety programs such as "Click It or Ticket" officers perform safety checkpoints on local roadways to promote the use of seat belts and properly installed car seats. While a checkpoint is set for a week during high travel times of the year, officers are available year-round to offer help to concerned motorists.

Just a simple call, however, can generate a meeting with one of our officers to offer useful information or perform a child safety seat check-up. Car seat courtesy inspections are performed by appointment only. You may set up an appointment by calling 401-294-3316.
