The Town adopted an ordinance entitled Plastic Bag Regulations on July 30, 2018. The purpose of this ordinance is to improve the environment in and around the town and the health, safety, and welfare of its residents by reducing the distribution of single-use plastic bags, specifying the recycled content of paper bags, encouraging the use and sale of reusable checkout bags, and banning the use of plastic bags for retail checkout of goods.
The ordinance comes into effect on January 01, 2019. All businesses in town will have to comply with the ordinance. There are exemptions as enumerated in Section 9-344 of the ordinance. To view the entire Ordinance as adopted click here.
