Lt. Raymond W. Bennett

On July 30, 1961, while on a motorcycle patrol in the Town of North Kingstown, Lieutenant Bennett would be involved in a motor vehicle accident on Tower Hill Road. Initial injuries to Lieutenant Bennett included a broken leg and despite numerous efforts to save it, his left leg would later be amputated. On November 10, 1964, Lieutenant Bennett died from injuries received in the accident, he was 48 years old. Lieutenant Raymond W. Bennett would have his name added to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial, located in Washington, DC. Memorial Panel: 24-W: 7

A shadow box at the North Kingstown Police Department was dedicated in honor of Lieutenant Raymond W. Bennett. The North Kingstown Police Department wishes to thank the Bennett Family for contributing the shadow box and the North Kingstown Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge 33 for their assistance in making the dedication possible. The shadow box will remain on permanent display within the Police Department.
